Applies to the Mizan website, admissions, LMS, ERP and related institute services.

01

Acceptance and eligibility

These terms govern use of Mizan Institute of Technology’s website, admissions, LMS, certificates and related training or service portals. By creating an account, applying, enrolling, paying or using a protected feature, you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you act for an organization or a minor, you confirm you have authority to do so.

Learners must provide accurate information and meet any age, prerequisite, identity or guardian requirements communicated for the selected program.

02

Accounts and security

  • Use your own account and keep passwords, verification links and sessions confidential.
  • Notify Mizan promptly if you suspect unauthorized access or incorrect identity details.
  • Do not sell, share or transfer access, impersonate another person, or allow someone else to complete assessed work under your identity.
  • Mizan may require identity verification and may restrict an account while investigating security, payment, academic-integrity or safeguarding concerns.
03

Enrollment and course access

Course access is managed through auditable entitlements, normally at the monthly-part level. Admission acceptance may open the first approved part; later parts may require verified payment, completion of prerequisite learning and a passed evaluation. Scholarships, public courses or authorized administrative grants may apply different scopes or expiry dates.

Content appearing in a catalog does not by itself mean the user may open it. Locked parts explain the relevant payment, evaluation or administrative requirement. Mizan may correct an entitlement granted in error and will record the reason for material staff changes.

04

Learning, attendance and assessment

  • Complete required videos, notes, practical work, quizzes, projects and evaluation requests honestly and within published attempt or deadline rules.
  • Video progress, quiz attempts, submissions, attendance and instructor feedback may be recorded as part of the academic record.
  • Automated checks and AI assistance do not replace instructor review where the course requires instructor approval.
  • Plagiarism, purchased submissions, impersonation, answer sharing, unauthorized automation or interference with assessment controls may result in a failed attempt, access restriction or disciplinary action.
05

Fees, payment verification and refunds

Fees, schedules, discounts and installment arrangements shown during admissions or on an invoice apply to that enrollment. Manual bank, Telebirr or other receipt submissions are not treated as paid until verified. Payment references and receipts must be genuine and belong to the stated transaction.

Refunds, transfers, pauses and cohort changes depend on the written offer, timing, course delivery already received, payment-provider charges and applicable Mizan policy. Request any adjustment promptly through the finance or admissions team; submitting a request does not guarantee approval.

06

Acceptable platform use

  • Use Mizan systems only for lawful learning, teaching, administration or agreed client work.
  • Do not probe, bypass or disable access controls, rate limits, evaluations, payment gates, audit logs or document permissions.
  • Do not upload malware, abusive content, unlawful material, another person’s confidential data or content you lack permission to use.
  • Do not scrape, bulk-download, republish, resell or train another service on protected course content without written authorization.
  • Treat instructors, staff, students and community members respectfully in classes, Q&A, chat, projects and events.
07

Intellectual property and student work

Mizan and its licensors retain rights in course videos, notes, curriculum structure, assessments, software, branding and other institute materials. Enrollment gives a limited, personal, non-transferable right to use materials for the approved course period; it does not transfer ownership or permit public redistribution.

Students generally retain ownership of original work they create. By submitting work for teaching, assessment, verification or a showcase, the student permits Mizan to store, review and display it for those purposes. Public promotion or use beyond normal academic administration should be based on permission, an applicable project agreement or anonymization.

08

MeriAI and other AI tools

AI assistants may explain permitted course material, suggest study steps or draft feedback. Responses can be incomplete or wrong and must be checked. AI does not issue official grades, approve projects, guarantee outcomes or override instructors. Users must follow course-specific rules about AI assistance and remain responsible for submitted work.

09

Certificates and verification

Certificates are issued only after the institute’s completion, assessment, payment and administrative requirements are met. A QR code or certificate ID enables public status verification. Mizan may correct inaccurate certificate details or revoke a certificate obtained through fraud, material error or serious academic misconduct; revoked credentials will no longer verify as valid.

10

Availability and third-party services

Mizan works to keep learning and administrative services reliable, but maintenance, connectivity, power, devices, external video hosts, payment providers or other third parties may interrupt access. We may update course tools, schedules or equivalent resources to maintain quality, safety or curriculum relevance. Third-party services also have their own terms and privacy practices.

11

Suspension and termination

Mizan may suspend or limit access for overdue or reversed payment, expired entitlement, account compromise, policy violation, abuse, academic misconduct or legal and safety reasons. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and available review path. Termination does not erase payment, academic, audit or certificate records that must be retained.

12

Learning outcomes and limitation of liability

Mizan provides training, resources, evaluation and career support; it does not guarantee employment, income, admission to another institution, uninterrupted access or a specific result. Outcomes depend on attendance, practice, assessment, market conditions and the learner’s own work.

To the extent permitted by Ethiopian law, Mizan is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from misuse, third-party services or events outside reasonable control. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

13

Ethiopian law, changes and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of Ethiopia. Parties should first try to resolve concerns in good faith through Mizan’s administration; unresolved matters may be taken to the competent Ethiopian courts or another process agreed in writing.

We may update these terms as programs, technology or legal duties change. The revised date will appear here, and material changes may also be announced through the website or LMS.
